my experiences with a nourishing lifestyle and sharing of my amazing water adventures along my journey

Becoming healthy

By Wendy Johnson

Life for me now is satisfying, rich and so very enjoyable, I now have the strength and stamina to do all of the amazing things I choose. So I thought I’d share a little bit about how I became healthy. I spent many years drinking caffine, smoking and not eating regularly. Throughout my life I had severe recurring allergies, skin problems and then twelve months of Colitis (chronic diarrhea) I had switched to organic food many years ago but I ate mostly vegetarian. After suffering with Colitis I decided it was time to really get well. So I said “I will do whatever it takes, show me what to do” Then came traditional foods, high protein, organic grass fed animal fats, fermented foods and slow cooked broths. Within 3 months of giving up grains and eating lots of chicken soup, my digestion had calmed down, I had lost 6 kilos and my doctor was amazed (no medication involved) With my digestion still sensitive I stuck with it and now twelve months later I am fitter and healthier than I have ever been in my life. Recently I went through winter without flu or colds, even when the rest of my house was sick and my housemate said I must be doing something right and she began to enjoy my regular chicken or turkey soups. I now have a priority in life (no matter how busy I get) to prepare delicious traditional foods sourced from organic or Biodynamic local farms grown with care and respect. May we all share in the delicious, nourishing gifts from our mother earth. Love and gratitude….. I feel great!
